We Give Back To Our Community

Sarkinen Plumbing has been giving back to the community for years.  Here’s two of our most recent community projects.

Sarkinen Plumbing Replaced Unusable Shower for Local Woman

Giving backWhen Debbie Spence posted a solicitation for a plumber on the Battle Ground Community Facebook, she had no idea she would soon be getting a free shower installation for her mother Mary Edmonson. Spence needed a plumber to get running water back to a few fixtures in her mother’s house and was looking for an inexpensive plumber. When Sarkinen plumber Tyler went to the home to give a quote, he fixed the water issues for free.

“When a tech has an opening in the schedule, we look on the Battle Ground Facebook page to see if anyone needs help and we take care of it for no charge,” said Tony Sarkinen. “It’s just a little way to pay back the community that has supported my business for years.”

While checking out the house he noticed the tub shower was unusable due to dry rot exposure and Edmonson couldn’t get into the shower. After speaking with Tony Sarkinen he decided to replace the tub shower with an easily accessible shower installation which ended up being a two-day job.

“My mom loves her new shower,” said Spence. “The Sarkinen team are so great and they really went above and beyond for us.”

Tony started Sarkinen Plumbing in 2003 and specializes in repipe, water heaters, water and sewer lines. He started as an apprentice plumber and journeyman in 1991 and got his experience with several companies throughout Clark County. Tony is from Battle Ground
and lives in the community with his family. Giving back to his community has always been a priority.

Sarkinen Plumbing is Proud to Install New Water Fountains in Clark County Schools

Lead scares during the summer and fall of 2016 in various school districts throughout Washington and Portland have inspired pro-action from Battle Ground Public Schools. They identified a sizable number of buildings with lead-contaminated water. Many other schools like those in the Ridgefield school district found elevated levels in some of their facilities as well. They have called on the professionals at Sarkinen Plumbing to replace existing water fountains.

The new water fountains contain filters in order to eliminate lead without complete repiping. While testing is not compulsory, local schools are taking proactive steps. Camas Public Schools spokeswoman Doreen McKercher said, “It’s important that we keep our kids safe and that everyone has clean drinking water that is available to all.”

As schools begin to set up regular testing schedules, we’ll keep replacing plumbing components with the latest lead-free options to help keep the areas student body healthy and lead-free.

Sarkinen Plumbing Sponsorships

We’re proud to sponsor the Rocksolid Community Teen Center. These centers are so important to a community, and provide young adults with a safe place to hang out, be themselves, and foster relationships with adult mentors.

We’ve got employees on both sides of the divide, so sponsoring the Battle Ground VS Prairie High School Alumni Game is a given. We can’t wait for the next rematch.
